Our hearts are breaking as we say goodbye to Kathleen Ann "Katy" Coffey, 74 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa. She died 8:32 pm Wednesday October 14, 2020 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born September 25, 1946, a daughter of Kenneth and Mildred (Kirrcherr) Collins. She first married Don Nuell, who proceeded her in death. On February 28, 1997 she married Terry Coffey, who survives.

Katy worked in sales at various stores in several states. Later she worked for 15 years at Community Action of Southeast Iowa with their Early Head Start program, first as a cook and then as a teacher after graduating from Southeastern Community College. After retiring from there, she worked at the Kensington until she was too ill to continue. Katy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking and debating politics.

She is survived by her husband Terry Coffey, his two sons Trevor Coffey (Chaly Meyers) and Mitchel Coffey (Scout Stevenson); one daughter, Jennifer (Danny) Birdsong, and their son Chandler; stepdaughter, Debby Reid, and stepson, Gary Nuell ; two sisters, Trudy (Kay) Pierce and Juanita (Tom) Brower; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Don, one sister Connie Dunne, and stepson, Richard Nuell.

Katy's family has requested Barr Memorial Chapel to care for her cremation. No formal services are scheduled at this time. Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Coffey family.
