Kathy Sue Peitz, 49 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 11:25 am Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. She was born December 21, 1960 at Winterset, Iowa, a daughter of Glen and Peggy Louise (Murphy) Thompson. On July 6, 1990, she married Daniel Joseph Peitz
at Fort Madison, Iowa.

She was a 1979 graduate of Bridgewater Fontanelle High School. She worked as an administrative assistant for 24 years for Maternal Child Health of Des Moines and Lee County. She loved her dogs and was a supporter of the Humane Society. She was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed spending time at home with her family and friends.

She was survived by her husband: Daniel J. Peitz, of Fort Madison, Iowa; mother: Peggy Goetz, of Fontanelle, Iowa; two sons: Scott (wife Jennie) Peitz, of Sydney, Australia, Eric Peitz, of Sioux City, Iowa; two daughers: Paula (husband Clint) Hall, of Fort Madison, Iowa, Heather (husband Ryan) Meyer, of Wayland, Iowa; two brothers: Marty Geotz, of Fontanelle, Iowa, Clint Goetz, of Fontanelle, Iowa; one sister: Sharon Blanchard, of Fontanelle, Iowa; six grandchildren, one uncle, one aunt, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father, and stepfather, Marvin Goetz.

Friends may call after 2:00 pm Sunday, September 26, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, where the family will meet friends from 5:00 - 6:00 pm Sunday evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa with Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established for PAWS Animal Shelter, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
