Obituary

Kay Young, of Nauvoo, Illinois peacefully passed away on January 8, 2024.  She was born October 18, 1939 in Ogden, Utah, a daughter of William Chester and Thelma Lillian (Foulger) Fronk.

Kay's journey took her from serene landscapes of Ogden, Utah to Nauvoo. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of her loved ones and community.

Throughout her life, Kay was known for her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness. She embraced life's challenges with grace and dignity, always finding ways to support those around her. Her warm smile could melt even the coldest hearts, and her compassionate nature touched countless lives. This thoughtfulness led to an education from Brigham Young University in Home Economics.

Kay's love for her family was unparalleled. She met and married Ray A. Young, and they enjoyed sharing their lives together.  He preceded her in death in 2017 at their home in Nauvoo. She cherished every moment spent with him and found joy in creating lifelong memories together. Her nurturing nature extended beyond blood relations as she warmly welcomed friends into her heart as if they were family, spanning across the nation.

In addition to being a devoted daughter, Kay found fulfillment in many aspects of life. Professionally talented and dedicated, she excelled in her career path with the Department of Commerce, Four Corners Development Commission. She left an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of working alongside her.

A woman of immense faith, Kay found solace in the spiritual realm. Her unwavering testimony guided her actions and provided comfort during both joyful times and moments of adversity. She was a long time temple worker in both Washington D.C. and Nauvoo Temples. Kay also served a mission in Northern England for two and half years.

Kay is survived by her brother Robert D. Fronk of Seattle, Washington; as well as by many wonderful cousins and dear friends.

To honor Kay's life and legacy, a burial service will be held January 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery, in Ogden, Utah.
