Loudella "Lou" May Van Ausdall, 96 yrs., of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 7:45 am Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Montrose Health Center, Montrose, Iowa. She was born February 5, 1915 at home at Wayland, Missouri, a daughter of John and Lea Ruth (Lonis) Brammer. On December 10, 1947, she married Malcolm "Van" F. Van Ausdall at Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death April 16, 1984.
She worked for Ford Hopkins in Keokuk and Fort Madison. For 25 years, she worked as a clerk at Your Drug in Fort Madison, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Fort Madison, Iowa. Lou enjoyed playing bingo, embroidery, piecing quilts, reading, camping and taking care of her dog, Tubby.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends, The Phil Messer Family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers: J.W. Brammer, Norman Brammer, Sr., Junior Brammer, Leon Brammer, and Roger Brammer; and one brother in infancy.
Family will greet friends from 1:30 to 2:30 pm Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Barr Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa, with Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Private burial will be at Soldier's Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
