Lucille May Goldie, 100, of Denmark, Iowa died Monday, August 31, 2026 at the West Point Care Center, West Point, Iowa. Lucille was born August 4, 1926 at Keokuk, Iowa, a daughter of George M. and Hazel Merel (Hagmeier) Rhodes. She was raised by her grandparents, Charles and Tillie Hagmeier. On November 27, 1942, she married Manson Phillip Goldie at Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death March 10, 2010.
She was a lifelong resident of Lee County. She attended Belmont School, near Keokuk. She and her husband ran Goldie’s Grocery Store for 25 years. They also ran Primary Oil Company for 10 years, before they retired. She was a member of Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ and the Plymouth Circle at church. Phillip and Lucy were avid travelers and campers, and have camped in every state, except for Alaska. She also enjoyed dancing and bowling.
She is survived by one daughter, Gloria Gregory of West Point, Iowa; daughter in law, Cindy Goldie of Denmark, Iowa, five grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Linda Louck, son Phillip Richard “Rick” Goldie, sister Wilma Burke and one granddaughter Andrea Louck.
Family will greet friends 10:00 am Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, Denmark, with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 am Thursday morning. Private family burial will be at the Denmark Cemetery, Denmark, Iowa. A memorial has been established for Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, the Denmark Cemetery and the West Point Care Center Activity Fund. Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Lucille Goldie Family.
