Lucille B. "Lu" Carson, 89 yrs, of Wever, Iowa, died 3:07 pm Monday March 14, 2011 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born July 25, 1921 at Memphis, Missouri, the daughter of Alfred and Alice Melvina (Davis) Blaine. On February 21, 1938, she married Austin "Kit" Carson at Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1995. She spent most of her life in the Wever area. She sold Stanley Home Products for more than 50 years. She also worked as a press operator for 6 years at Case in Burlington. She was of Protestant faith. She loved gardening, playing cards, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by three sons: Audie (wife June) Carson, of California; Pat (wife Cindy) Carson, of Fort Madison, Iowa; and Mike Carson, of Denmark, Iowa; one daughter: Joyce Stewart, of Denmark, Iowa; one sister: Bee Chestnut, of Ottumwa, Iowa; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Alice Moore; one brother, Dick Blaine; one sister, Eileen Schaffer; two step-sisters, four step-brothers, two half brothers and three half sisters.

Friends are welcome after 1:00 pm Thursday March 17, 2011 at the Barr Memorial Chapel where family will greet friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday evening. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Friday March 18, 2011 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Larry Ryan and Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Burial will be at the Claypoole Cemetery, rural Wever, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Wever Fire and Rescue and the Eichacker Center, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel. Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison is in charge of arrangements.
