Marian R. Mueller, 87 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 6:30 pm , December 1, 2015 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born April 16, 1928 in Houghton, Iowa, a daughter of George and Rosa (Vantieger) Denning. On April 17, 1952, she married Gregory E. Mueller in Houghton, Iowa. He preceded her in death January 27, 2013.
She moved to Ft. Madison in 1987 from the St. Paul, Ia. area where she lived for many years. She was a Home Health Aid for the Lee County Health Department from 1970-1983. She did house cleaning and volunteered at the Visitor Center. She enjoyed writing to pen pals, traveling, walking, music, bowling, searchword puzzles, decorating greeting cards, scrapbooking and collecting poems and verses. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish, Fort Madison, Iowa.
She is survived by one son: Carl William Mueller of Muscatine, Iowa; two daughters: Sandy (Darrell) Orr of Lisbon Falls, Maine, Judy (Doug)Thorpe of Des Moines, Iowa; four granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gregory, two sisters and four brothers.
Per her wishes, the body of Mrs. Mueller has been cremated. Her family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am Monday December 7, 2015 at the Barr Memorial Chapel and Cremation Service, Fort Madison. A Catholic Prayer Service will begin at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Reverend David Wilkening, officiating. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fort Madison. A memorial has been established for the Fort Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
