Marilynn Irene Northway, 88 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 8:40 pm Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at her home. She was born December 12, 1924 at Primrose, Iowa a daughter of Ralph and Clara (Bergthold) Sander. On August 22, 1947 she married Edgar Northway at Primrose, Iowa.
Marilynn was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She sang in the choir and played the organ, and she enjoyed classical and religious music.
She is survived by four sons: Jon (wife Paula) Northway, of Chicago, Illinois; Vern Northway, of Kalona, Iowa; Ray (wife Claudia) Northway, of Saco, Maine; and Kevin (wife Pamela) Northway, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one sister, Ruth Ellen (husband David) Demarest, of Omaha, Nebraska; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother.
Per her wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday June 18, 2013 at the St. John's United Church of Christ, with Reverend Cheryl Simpson officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the St. John's United Church of Christ Music Fund or the Fort Madison Area Arts Association. Contributions may be made at the church during the service or at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa.
