Marjorie Ann Ireland, 85 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 6:30 pm Saturday, December 29, 2012 at her home. She was born December 29, 1927, at New London, Iowa, a daughter of Henry Ralph and Gertrude Harriette (Plumly) Madden. On June 21, 1946, she married Robert Ivan Ireland at Kahoka, Missouri. He survives.

She moved to the Fort Madison area in 1948. She worked as a nurse's aide at the former Sacred Heart Hospital. She also did child care in her home for years. She was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, and reading. She was an avid sports fan, and she especially loved the CUBS and Iowa Hawkeye's.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Ireland, of Fort Madison, Iowa; three sons: Michael (wife Donna) Ireland, of Marion, Iowa; Jerry (wife Cheryl) Ireland, of Denmark, Iowa; and Joseph (wife Holli) Ireland, of Caribou, Maine; six daughters: Patricia (husband James) Delaney, of Fort Madison, Iowa; Beverly (husband Melvin) Lyttaker, of Fort Madison, Iowa; Sylvia (husband Dwayne) Thomas, of Fort Madison, Iowa; Nancy Ireland, of Fort Madison, Iowa; Carol (husband Jerry) Dillingham, of Denmark, Iowa; and Kimberly (husband Robert) Brockman, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one brother, Ralph "Bud" (Shirley) Madden, of Olds, Iowa; three sisters: Dorothy Kmosena, of Mesa, Arizona; Sylvia Schuerman, of Chandler, Arizona; and Trudy (husband John) Inglebright, of Chandler, Arizona; 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Sally Bickel.

Her body has been cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established for the Lee County Health Department Hospice. Contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
