Marjorie Hallgren (Marge) was born October 8, 1928 to Arthur Hallgren and Ruth Gustafson. She attended Burlington High School and graduated in the class of 1945. In her younger years, Marge enjoyed writing in school. When she was 18, Marge married Dale Westfall, twin to Bill Westfall.

Marge was a career military wife for over 20 years. She was involved in NCO Wives Clubs and volunteer efforts that raised money for military organizations on the many bases on which she lived. The Westfall Family lived in Waterloo, IA, Shephard AFB, TX, Ellsworth AFB, SD, Kessler AFB, MS, Athens, Greece, and Hunter AFB in Savannah, GA.

They returned to their hometown of Burlington in 1966, when Dale retired from the Air Force. Marge worked at the telephone company, Montgomery Ward and the National Research Bureau (NRB), a company that wrote radio commercials. Dale became an agent at State Farm Insurance until his death in 1979.
Marge's life after being widowed at the age of 50 revolved around her children: Ron (Gina) of Argyle, TX; Mary Dehner of Burlington; Patti (Tom) Ward of Burlington and her 8 grandchildren: Amber (Jayson) Wulf of Burlington; Dustin Kurrle of Ames, IA; Heath Kurrle and Lindsey Kurrle of Burlington; Angie (Robert) Redland of New Braunfels, TX; Erin (Joey) Roy of Dallas, TX; Ryan (Megan) Dehner of Iowa City, IA; and Carrie (Josh) Williams of Oronoco, MN.

Marge had six great-grandchildren: Alyson, Kathryn, Jillian, and Madelyn Redland; Marlee Kurrle; and Josie Williams. Marge lived at Klein's since the fall of 2007. In this stage of life, Marge continued to write in her journals. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Jack C. Hallgren and Arthur Hallgren, and her son-in-law Randy Dehner.
Marge's body has been cremated. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa, with Pastor Tyrone Henderson, officiating.
