Marvin G. Hellman was born August 16, 1929 at Fort Madison, Iowa a son of William G. and Cecilia (Sanders) Hellman. On June 30, 1953, he married Eileen Ann Bentler at the St. John's Catholic Church at Houghton, Iowa.
He was the owner and operator of Hellman Trucking Company, Houghton, Iowa for more than 50 years. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed going to auctions and collecting antiques.
At 80 years of age, he died at 6:59 am Monday May 3, 2010 at Scottsdale, Arizona. He is survived by his wife, Eileen A. Hellman, of Houghton, Iowa; two sons, Fred Hellman, of Houghton, Iowa and Patrick (wife Traci) Hellman, of West Des Moines, Iowa; three daughters: Donna (husband David) Coulter, of Garrison, Iowa; Dianna (husband Dan) Cooling, of Houghton, Iowa; and Angie (husband Jim) Baugh, of Scottsdale, Arizona; one brother, Merlin (wife Theresa) Hellman, of Fort Madison, Iowa; two sisters, Jeanette Holmes, of Fairfield, Iowa and Janice Thomas, of Fort Madison, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, 412 Ave. C, West Point, Iowa where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday evening, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Saturday May 8, 2010 at the St. John's Catholic Church, Houghton, Iowa with Reverend Gary Beckman, as Celebrant. Burial will be at the St. John's Cemetery, Houghton, Iowa. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the West Point American Legion Honor Guard, Holtz-Geers Post #668. A memorial has been established for St. John's Catholic Church, contributions may be made at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home or at the church.
