Mary "Alice" Glasgow was born February 20, 1909 in Green Bay Bottoms, rural Wever, Iowa, a daughter of Fred and Edna (Liddle) Schrader. On October 13, 1926, she married Clarence Glasgow at Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death July 20, 1994. Alice was a homemaker. She was a member of the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, canning, baking pies, making noodles, and quilting.
At 101 years of age, she died at 10:40 pm Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the Danville Care Center, Danville, Iowa. She is survived by five sons: James Glasgow, of West Burlington, Iowa; Harold (wife Rosemary) Glasgow, of West Burlington, Iowa; Marvin Glasgow, of Fort Madison, Iowa; Frank (wife Libby) Glasgow, of Dothan, Alabama; and Dale (wife Connie) Glasgow, of Danville, Iowa; one brother, Frank Schrader, of St. Louis, Missouri; 28 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 26 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, eight brothers,
two daughters, one son, three infant siblings, and two grandchildren.
Her family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00am Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa with Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery, rural Denmark, Iowa. A memorial has been established for the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
