Obituary

Matilda "Tillie" Ann Cooper, 95 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 7:55 am Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born September 27, 1918 at West Point, Iowa, a daughter of Herman H. and Catherine (Nacke) Kuhljuergen. On November 22, 1938, she married William Conrad Cooper at the Sacred Heart Church, Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1976.

She was a lifelong resident of the Fort Madison area. She was a member of the Ladies Catholic Auxiliary, Fort Madison Senior Citizens and the West Point Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen (husband Robert) Vandenboom, of Aurora, Ohio; one sister, Thelma Thornton, of Lexington, Kentucky; three grandsons, four great grandsons, two nephews and four nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Lt. Col. William Thomas Cooper, two brothers and one sister.

Per her wishes, the body will be cremated. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Holy Family Parish, Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Madison, with Father Mark Spring, as Celebrant. Private burial will be at a later date at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
