Obituary

Melba Maxine George, 91 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa, died 10:03 pm Wednesday April 11, 2012 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born June 17, 1920 at Henrietta, Missouri, the daughter of Jesse and Mabel (Kiddoo) Francis. On November 1, 1938, she married Franklin D. George at Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1981.

She had been a resident of the Fort Madison area most of her life. She worked as file clerk in the superintendent's office for the Santa Fe Railroad. She was a former member of the Santa Fe United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her one son: Dennis T. (wife Pamela) George, of Wausau, Wisconsin; one daughter: Debra Masch, of Terrell, Texas; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one step great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Earl Francis.

Her family will greet friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Monday April 16, 2012 at the Barr Memorial Chapel. A funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday April 16, 2012 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Bill Willis, officiating. Burial will be at Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
