Mildred Maxine Rempe, 88 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa, died Friday, December 6, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. She was born July 16, 1936 in Iowa, a daughter of Joseph and Dessie D. (Haddock) Wardle. She married Edward Bernard Rempe Sr.
She worked for Sheaffer Pen for awhile. After many years, she retired as a bus driver for the Central Lee school system. She was an avid on-line shopper and loved her cats, especially Jack the Persian. Mildred was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and volunteered for many years at the church's community center.
She is survived by her children: Pamela Goldsberry, of Fort Madison, Iowa; Melissa (Rasoul) Poursmaeili, of Round Rock, Texas; Darla (Tommy) Fortenberry, of Baytown, Texas and Sara (Jerry) Miller, of Montrose, Iowa; one brother: James Edward Wardle, of Alvarado, Texas; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Bernard and Melvin, and siblings: Wanda, Juanita, Charles, Everett and Bob.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am Tuesday morning. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Rempe family.
