Minister Ronald Waytes Jr., 53 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa transitioned on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 in Burlington, Iowa. He was born December 2, 1971 at Highland Park, Michigan, the son of Ronald Melvin Sr. and Elizabeth Marie (Marshall) Waytes. Ronald and Regina Coleman were married in September of 2016. They later separated.
Ronald dedicated his life to the Lord, he received his Masters in Theology from Life Christian University and was working towards his Doctorate. He was an active member and minister of the Second Baptist Church, where he served on the praise and worship team and was also the church's photographer. His heart was full of love, and he wanted to spread the word of God to everyone. He extended his help to anyone in need, and spent countless hours volunteering with CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocate for children. Even within his personal career he spent time helping others. He worked for Optimae, where he was a site team leader as a support specialist, and he was also a notary. He was devoted family man and he enjoyed being surrounded by family. In his free time his favorite things to do were photography and learning. Ronald constantly found a way to expand his knowledge and credentials while remaining in different studies of his personal interests.
He is survived by his daughter, Trashanda (fiance Matthew Oliver) Waytes; siblings: Timothy (Josephine) Marshall and Rhonda Mitchell; two grandchildren: Olivae Oliver and Harper Poole; three step-children; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. A Funeral service will follow and begin at 2:00 pm Tuesday afternoon at the chapel. Private burial will be at a later date. A memorial has been established and contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
