Nancy Mae Blanchard, 88 years, of the Wever and Denmark area, died Friday, May 29, 2026 at her home.  She was born July 22, 1937, the daughter of William "Smoke" and Louise (Jacobs) Knustrom.  On August 28, 1955, she married Donald "Squirt" Lee Blanchard.  They celebrated 70 years of marriage.  She was a 1955 graduate of Denmark Academy.

Nancy was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandma.  She also loved being outdoors helping with all farming tasks, gardening, and mowing her yard.  She was always up to playing cards and doing anything that involved her family.  She was a long time member of the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, and the Jolly 20 circle.

She is survived by her five children: Dean (Kathy) Blanchard of West Point, Iowa; Craig (Cathy) Blanchard of Charles City, Iowa; Jay (Sherry) Blanchard of Wever, Iowa; Cindy (Dwight) Barnes of Montrose, Iowa; Peggy (Pat) Steffensmeier of West Point; fourteen grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild with one on the way; numerous nieces and nephews.  Other survivors include two siblings, Jack Knustrom and Don (Karen) Knustrom, and two sisters-in-law, Lois Blanchard and Roberta Stout.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandson, Neil Blanchard.

Friends are invited to join the family at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 3, 2026 for a Memorial Service at the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, with Pastor Chad Savage officiating.  Immediately following the memorial service, the family will be greeting friends during the meal at the Fellowship Hall at the church.  A private family burial was held at Claypoole Cemetery, Wever.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Blanchard family and an online guest book may be found at www.barrmemorialchapel.com.
