Obituary

Nancy Lou Hyhouse, 80 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 1:24 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at The Madison, Fort Madison, Iowa. Nancy was born November 18, 1934 at Fort Madison, Iowa, a daughter of William and Mary (Kendall) Schumaker. On August 12, 1956, she married Edward Hyhouse at Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death.

Nancy lived in the Fort Madison area all her life. She was a 1952 graduate of Fort Madison High School. She was a homemaker, but after the death of her husband she went to work to support her family. She worked in the deli at Easter Foods, in the cafeteria at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, and at SubArena. She was Vice President and on the board of the Camp Fire girls, and was a member of the Fort Madison Band parents. She enjoyed reading and traveling, and she collected angels.

She is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Russell) White, of Burlington, Iowa and Amy (Daniel) Holt, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; two sisters, Betty Rampy, of Virginia and Ida Sprenger, of Fort Madison, Iowa; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Edwin Schumaker and Larry Schumaker.

Graveside services and burial will be at 1:00 pm Friday, May 15, 2015 at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa, with Pastor Cheryl Simpson officiating. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services.
