Obituary

Patricia (Pat) I. Moore, 73, of Fort Madison, Iowa, passed away at 2:24 p.m., on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Hospice House enveloped by the love and support of family and friends, both near and far.  She was born on May 2, 1952, in Manistique, Michigan to Douglas and Caroline (Wood) Howard. She grew up in Gulliver, Michigan, and graduated from Manistique High School in 1970 and went on to study at Northern Michigan University.

She met the love of her life Adam (Gene) Moore. Only a love like they shared could have taken her away from her family, friends, and cherished home of the Upper Peninsula.  She moved to Iowa with Gene in 1981 and the two were later married on August 26, 1988. They enjoyed a rare and devoted love that she treasured more than anything on this Earth. Together, they raised four children: Kimberly (Kym) Auge, Kristin Smith, Jamie Moore, Joshua Moore, and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Smith. Pat was a hardworking, devoted, loyal, and loving wife and mother. Perhaps her greatest promotion in life, however, was becoming a grandmother - which promotion she was graced with on six occasions.

Pat worked in different clerical positions at hospitals, retail businesses, and accounting firms until such time as she hired on at The Dial Corporation, n/k/a Conagra Foods. Pat worked through several corporate transformations of  The Dial Corporation, which ultimately became Conagra Foods, from which she retired. While employed, she was actively involved as an advocate and loyal member of the UFCW Local #617, where she championed for the rights of all workers.  She developed many lifelong friendships, which she greatly treasured, while working at Conagra.  After she retired, she enjoyed her luncheons with fellow retirees of ConAgra Foods and was always disappointed if she had to miss such an event.

Pat was memorable in so many ways, perhaps the most notable and memorable of all would have been her sarcasm, wit, and sense of humor. One could never expect a dull moment when around Pat. She was always the life of the  party. She was funny, would not hesitate to give you a hard time, and would most certainly let you know, in no uncertain terms, how she felt about or what she thought about a subject matter.

She was a proud Yooper and enjoyed going back to Michigan in the summer with Gene (and sometimes grandkids) to visit family and friends. She loved to crochet, and many family members have received some of her treasured afghans.  She also became an avid bird watcher and enjoyed filling her bird feeders and watching the various birds gather and feed.

Pat is survived by her loving husband, Adam (Gene) Moore of Fort Madison, Iowa; her daughter Kimberly (Matt) Auge of Fort Madison, Iowa; her son, Jamie (Sara) Moore of Grimes, Iowa; her son, Joshua Moore of Iowa City, Iowa; 2 grandsons: Jacob Auge and Gideon Moore; and 4 granddaughters: Darian Auge, Paige Auge, Elizabeth Smith, and Penelope (Poppy) Moore. Additionally, she is survived by her brothers: Lee (Carol) Howard, Randy (Jody) Howard, and Rick (Tincey) Howard; her brothers-in-law: Andy Norton, Keith (Lollie) Krogmeier and Joe (Rose) Moore; her sisters-in-law: Carol (Paul) Brown, Marie (Rick Grisham) Wilson; Barb (Mike) Thompson and Marci (Dave) Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristin Smith; her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; two sisters: Betty Bosanic and Marcey Norton; two brothers-in-law: John Bosanic and Bill Moore; one sister-in-law, Judy Krogmeier; and a nephew, Andrew Krogmeier.

Her family will greet friends and family from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30,2025 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. A  Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Barr Memorial Chapel.  A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Pat Moore family.
