Patrick Joseph Perry Sr., 75 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died unexpectedly at 9:40 pm Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. He was born July 5, 1937 at Fort Madison, Iowa, a son of Gerald Melville and Florence Agnes (Cullen) Perry. On December 7, 1957, he married Evelyn Selby. They were married almost 55 years.

He was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a fireman with the Fort Madison Fire Department for 16 years. Prior to that he worked for several years at Ortho. He was of the Catholic faith. He was an avid fisherman, big joke teller, enjoyed grilling, cooking, and crossword puzzles. He loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Perry, of Fort Madison, Iowa; two sons, Patrick Joseph Perry Jr (Faith Nerhus), of Fort Madison, Iowa and Frederick (wife Kathryn) Perry, of Fort Madison, Iowa; two daughters, Denise (husband Roger) Mahoney, of Fort Madison, Iowa and Teresa (husband Ed) Dohman, of West Point, Iowa; one brother, Michael Perry, of Iowa; two sisters, Dinah Slee, of Muscatine, Iowa and Florence DeFrates, of Bettendorf, Iowa; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Steven Perry, two brothers, and one sister.

Friends may call after 1:00 pm Friday November 30, 2012 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday December 1, 2012 at the Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fort Madison, Iowa, with Father Mark Spring as celebrant. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. Memorial contributions have been established, and contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel or at the church during the service.
