Obituary

Phillip Nathaniel Johnson, 87 years, of Wayland, Iowa and formerly of Keokuk and Fort Madison died Sunday April 14, 2013 at the Parkview Home in Wayland, Iowa. He was born March 28, 1926 at St. Louis, Missouri, a son of Reverend John F. Johnson and Gladys Mae (Tucker) Johnson. He had been a resident in the Fort Madison and Keokuk area since 1948. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II. He worked for the Midwest Wax Paper Company and the Iowa State Penitentiary. He was a member of the Masons, the American Legion, and the NAACP. He was a member of the Fort Madison United Methodist Church. He is survived by one brother David A. (wife Donna) Johnson, of Euless, Texas, one sister Mrs. Charlotte (husband Eugene) Dryer, of Hampton, Georgia, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: John A. Johnson, Wallace I. Johnson, Thaddeus E. Johnson, and Donald C. Johnson, Sr. Cremation wishes have been accorded. Memorial Services will be 10:30 am Saturday April 20, 2013 at the Fort Madison United Methodist Church, 510 9th Street. Reverend Brenda Goodall will officiate. Burial will be at the Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison with full military rites. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel or at church the day of the service.
