R. Jack
Stotts
Jun 27, 1934 — Dec 27, 2025
R. Jack Stotts, 91, of Denmark, Iowa passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, Fort Madison. He was born on June 27, 1934, to Roy and Bertha Stotts. Jack was united in marriage to the love of his life, Maxine Gingrich on July 11, 1954. He lived in Denmark, Iowa for most of his life, where he built not only homes, but a reputation as a skilled and hardworking carpenter.
Jack spent his career as a carpenter, taking pride in the many homes he built throughout the area. He loved to tell stories about his life and his work, often sharing memories of the projects he completed and the people he met along the way. Some of his favorite moments were spent giving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren tractor rides, and his dogs golf cart rides, all around Denmark—memories they will cherish forever.
Like many, Jack had his flaws and was not always the easiest to get along with, but he was deeply loved and will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his stories, and the legacy he leaves behind.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Stotts and his son, Brad Stotts (Pam Sciumbato); granddaughters Lisa Engeman, Kennedy (Nathan) Parker, Selena Stotts, and Shelby (Zack) Noble; great-grandchildren Jaydiane, Colton (Haley Janic), and Peighton Engeman, Blayire Thomas, Braelynn Harkey, Brookelynn and Bairynn Parker, and Maddieray Noble; great-great grandchildren, Greyson and Jensyn McCarty. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Cochran, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maxine; his parents; and several siblings.
Per his wishes, his body has been cremated. His family will greet friends 1:00 - 3:00 pm Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. Jack will be buried with his wife Maxine at a later date at Denmark Cemetery, Denmark, Iowa. A memorial has been established for PAW Animal Shelter and the Denmark Fire and Rescue. Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Stotts family and an online guest book may be found at www.barrmemorialchapel.com.
