Robert L. Hinkle Sr., 88 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 8:50 pm Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. He was born March 1, 1926 near Trenton, Iowa, a son of Peter S. and Laura A. (Clawson) Hinkle. He married Marvoleene Bunker. They later divorced. He then married Alice Bell Brockett. She preceded him in death.

Bob worked several places throughout his life including: Kennedy Dairy, Mt. Pleasant; Sheaffer Pen, Mt. Pleasant location; IAAP, Middletown; Sacred Heart Hospital, Fort Madison; and Fruehauf, Fort Madison, Iowa. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was a 68 year member of the Mt. Pleasant American Legion, Post 58. He enjoyed visiting with friends and was known as "Dancing Bob."

He is survived by one son Robert L. Hinkle Jr., of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Beverly (David) Humphrey, of Wheaton, Illinois and Patricia Patrick, of Indianola, Iowa; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and good friends, Janice and Bill Abel, of Fort Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice, one son Kenneth Hinkle, one son-in-law Donald Patrick, two brothers, John and Peter Hinkle, three half sisters: Georgiana Fredericks, Carmen Barr, and Marcella Graber, and one half brother Richard Canaris.

His body has been cremated. A graveside service and burial with full military rites will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. Pastor Bill Willis will officiate. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
