Robert Owen Reilly, 81 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 1:57 pm Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. He was born May 20, 1933 at Chicago, Illinois, a son of Thomas and Sally (Norton) Reilly. On September 20, 1962, he married Dorothy Elaine Ulakey, at Chicago, Illinois.
Robert first moved to the area in work in sales for KXGI radio. Later he started his own business, River Racks Tourist Outreach, which he operated from his home in Fort Madison until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of Fort Madison Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Fort Madison American Legion, Post 82. He enjoyed researching genealogy and spending time with his family.
He is survived by one son, Patrick Reilly, of Fort Madison, Iowa; two daughters, Ellen Reilly, of Fort Madison, Iowa and Kathleen (Brandon) Gassman, of Iowa City, Iowa; one step-son, Richard Meyers, of Marion, Iowa; one step-daughter, Michele Meyers, of Hampton, Virginia; one brother, Thomas (Joyce) Reilly, of Chicago, Illinois; two step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Pat, and one infant sister, Barbara.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 - 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel with Wes Mogenhan, Branch Presidency, officiating. Full military rites will follow at the funeral home by the Fort Madison Veterans Honor Guard. His body will be cremated following the funeral. Private burial at the Nauvoo City Cemetery, Nauvoo, Illinois will be at a later date. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
