Ronald Joseph Eid, 67 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died unexpectedly Friday, December 30, 2011 at his home. He was born November 18, 1944, at Fort Madison, Iowa, a son of Merrill E. and Maryann (Menke) Eid. Ron lived in the Fort Madison area all his life and was a 1963 graduate of Fort Madison High School. He first worked as produce manger for HyVee and then Greenwald's. Later he worked for General Electric, retiring after more than twenty years. He loved his pets and enjoyed gardening. In his early years, he like to hunt and fish. He was a handyman and worked on many projects with his son.

He is survived by his mother, Maryann Eid, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one son, Tony Eid, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one brother, David (wife Mary) Eid, of Wever, Iowa; three sisters: Linda (husband Michael) Noll, of Wever, Iowa; Susan Joint, of Fort Madison, Iowa; and Debbie (husband Michael) Auge, of Wever, Iowa; two grandchildren, Lauren Eid and Dylan Eid; one uncle, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father and one daughter, Amy Eid.

The body of Mr. Eid has been cremated. His family will greet friends from 4:00 - 6:00 pm Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
