Rose May Briggs, 94 years old, of Fort Madison, Iowa died 10:15 am Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Montrose Care Center, Montrose, Iowa.
Rose was born May 23, 1920 at Clark County, Missouri, a daughter of George Weston and Eathel May (Gregory) Wells. She was raised by her grandparents, Eugene and Navey May Wells, on a farm by St. Francisville and Wayland, Missouri. On August 4, 1937, she married Lloyd Floyd Briggs at Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death May 14, 1985.
She has spent most of her life in Fort Madison, Iowa. After 35 years working in accounts receivable and payroll, she retired from W.A. Sheaffer Pen Company. She was a member of the Moose and Senior Center. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre. She was of the Methodist Faith.
She is survived by one sister, Eathel Marie Quigley, of Raytown, Missouri; nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband, and one brother, George Allen Wells.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 am Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Barr Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services, Fort Madison. Funeral services will follow and be held at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. Lanette Van officiating. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services, Fort Madison.
