Rose Marie Mayer, 83 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 6:44 am Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. Rose was born November 1, 1930 at Fort Madison, Iowa, a daughter of Frederick W. and Rose Mary (Penrod) Koehler. She first married Francis A. Coleman Jr. He preceded her in death. On November 9, 1988, she married Donald E. Mayer. He survives.

Rose worked at the Richmond Clinic for more than 40 years. She was Episcopalian.

She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Mayer, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one daughter, Diane (husband Scott) Day, of Muscatine, Iowa; one step daughter, Allison (husband Mark) Box, of Davenport, Iowa; one brother, Bill (wife Faith) Smith, of Niota, Illinois; one granddaughter, Hailey; one step grandson, Axel; two nieces, one nephew, and three great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Per her wishes, her body has been cremated. A graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington, Iowa, with Reverend James Kannenberg, officiating. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
