Obituary

Roy Eugene Stotlar, 76 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Saturday, July 19, 2025 at his home.  He was born December 27, 1948 at Fort Madison, Iowa, a son of Eugene Joseph and Emily Olive (Patterson) Stotlar.  On October 4, 2008, he married Karen Marie (Kanne) Jensen at Burlington, Iowa.

He was a 1968 graduate of the Fort Madison High School.  He worked at the Green Bay Grain Company for 10 years and then as a security officer at the Sheaffer Pen Co. for 10 years.  After 25 years, he retired from casino security.  He was a 50+ year member of the Odd Fellows, Wever; 50+ year member and two terms past master of the Fort Madison Masonic Lodge#13, AF & AM.  He was a member of YorkRite Masons, KABBA Shriners, and the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ.  When he was younger he enjoyed hunting, fishing and weight lifting.  Roy enjoyed genealogy and family history.  He loved his dogs and had many as a pet over the years.

Roy is survived by his wife Karen Stotlar, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one son, William Stotlar, of Fort Madison, Iowa; two stepsons: Jason Jensen, of Fort Madison, Iowa, Kurtis (Wendi) Jensen, of Columbia, Missouri; siblings: Raymond (Sharon) Stotlar, of Wever, Iowa; Robert (Martha) Stotlar, Burlington, Iowa; and Ruth (Grant) McDowell, of Burlington, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Anderson, of Wever, Iowa; five grandchildren: Galyn, Kendra and William Stotlar; Luke and Kampbell Jensen; four great grandchildren: Brynlee, Macie, Gracie and Greyson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gerald Anderson, sister, Frances Rodefer and brother-in-law, Mike Rodefer.

His family will greet friends from 5:30 - 7:00 pm Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa with Odd Fellows and Masonic services to follow and begin at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening.  His funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at the Barr Memorial Chapel.  Burial will be at the Claypoole Cemetery, rural Wever, Iowa.  A memorial has been established for Shriners Children's Hospital and St. Jude's Children's Hospital, contributions may be left at Barr Memorial Chapel.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Roy Stotlar family.
