Ruth Marie Grossman, 91 years, of Denmark, Iowa died at 7:15 pm Monday, April 1, 2013 at the West Point Care Center, West Point, Iowa. She was born July 23, 1921 at St Paul, Iowa, a daughter of Henry and Sadie (Menke) Spiekermeier. On June 1, 1944 at West Point, Iowa she married Floyd "Bud" Grossman. He preceded her in death.

Ruth was a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Augusta, Iowa and of the Altar and Rosary Society. She also belonged to the Plymouth Circle of the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ, and was a member of TOPS for many many years. She enjoyed time with her family and friends, bowling leagues, playing cards, and taking care of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, Randy (Tamara) Grossman, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one daughter, Nancy Anderson, of Denmark, Iowa; one sister, Jeanette (Cletus) Bergthold, of Davenport, Iowa; five grandchildren: Tami Box, Tennelle Anderson-Kuhn, Joshua Anderson, Wylie Grossman, and Hoyt Grossman; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Orville Spiekermeier, and two sisters, Irene Lessenger and Delores Fedler.

Friends may call after 2:00 pm Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Barr Memorial Chapel where the family will greet friends from 5:00 - 6:30 pm, Friday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Sacred Heart Church, Fort Madison, Iowa with Reverend David Wilkening as Celebrant. Burial will be at Denmark Cemetery, Denmark, Iowa. A memorial has been established for Denmark Volunteer Fire Department and the Denmark Cemetery Association, and contributions may be made at the church or the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa.
