Ruth Ann Peters, 88 years, formerly of Fort Madison, Iowa died May 26, 2026 in Florida.  She was born November 28, 1937 at Hudson, New York, a daughter of Basil and Hildred (Stone) Hoyt.  On April 5, 1958, she married Carl Peters at Lockport, New York.  He preceded her in death in 1992.

She was a homemaker, and lived for many years in Newburgh, New York before moving to Fort Madison in 1997.  Ruth was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and she attended the local Kingdom Hall.

She is survived by two sons: Phillip (Sharon) Peters, of Port Ewin, New York, Thomas (Melissa) Peters, of Bastrop, Louisiana; and three daughters: Tamey Peters, of Cape Canaveral, Florida, Vata Peters (Trey), of Poughkeepsie, New York, Ann (Larry) Zachmeyer, of New London, Iowa. Not only was Ruth a mother, but she was also a grandmother, a great grandmother, and a great great grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters: Eleanor Lillie, Marilyn Rennie, and Jean Beere.

Per her wishes, her body has been cremated.  A Memorial Talk and burial will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 26, 2026 at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa.    Friends are invited to join the family at the Eagle's Club, Fort Madison starting at 11:30 am in further celebration of Ruth's life.
