Obituary

Scott Carroll Schnedler

On Saturday, April 5, 2025, Scott Schnedler joined his parents and grandparents in heaven.  He passed away peacefully at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa.  He was born to Dennis "Denny" and Connie Schnedler on June 6, 1962.  He was the oldest sibling of four rambunctious brothers: Kyle Schnedler, Dennis Schnedler, and Lance Schnedler.  He was the first grandchild of Carroll and Henrietta Schnedler.  His middle name was given to him to honor his grandfather.  Being the oldest grandchild, he often led the charge in terrorizing his grandmother.

Scott led a very full life that included service in the Army Reserves, being a friend to everyone, getting married twice, and have five beautiful children he cared dearly for.  He was the life of the party, always smiling, especially with a cold one while watching the Hawkeyes.  In addition to his service in the Army Reserve, he worked armed security, but considered himself a jack of all trades.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Denny, mother, Connie, and cousin, John Schnedler.  He is survived by aunts: Linda Schnedler, Noreda Schnedler, and Judy Funk, all of Burlington, Iowa; one uncle, Jim Leger; cousins: James Schnedler, Jason Schnedler, and Jeff Wineguard, all of Burlington and Heather William and Stormy Hopp of Fort Madison; Erin Wineguard of Canon City, Colorado; and four brothers.  He married Joy Schnedler on February 14, 2000, and they were married for 23 years.  He leaves behind five children, three daughters: Michelle Castle, Kelsey  Bowen (Shane Bowen), and Gabrielle Schnedler (William King), and two sons, Christopher Schnedler and William Schnedler (Betty Jo Punkin Pie); one grandson Breyen Duffie, and several nieces, nephews, and his forever best friend, Joy Schnedler.

A Celebration of Life will be held on his upcoming birthday, please contact the family for more information.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Schnedler family and an online guest book may be found at www.barrmemorialchapel.com.
