Renee Morris Olson
Shaunta-Renee Alexia Morris Olson, 46 years., of Atlanta, Georgia and formerly of Fort Madison, Iowa died unexpectedly of natural causes Wednesday, September 8, 2010.
She was born August 9, 1964 at Omaha, Nebraska the daughter of Sherman Lee Morris and Barbara Jean (Foster) Morris. On March 12, 1983, she married Randy J. St. Clair. They later divorced. On February 10, 1996, she married James Warren Olson at Atlanta, Georgia. Renee lived in Fort Madison for most of her life and was a 1982 graduate of Fort Madison High School. In 1985, she received her A.A. degree from Southeastern Community College. She attended Hannibal-LeGrange Community College in Missouri. Renee had a dream of becoming a funeral director and graduated from Miami-Dade Community College. She was working her way through school being an interpreter for the deaf. This took on a life of it's own and became her new drive in life.. In 2010, she graduated from the Georgia Perimeter College - Sign Language Interpreting Program in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a member of the FRID-Florida Registry Interpreters Deaf; GRID-Georgia Registry Interpreters Deaf; RID-National Registry Interpreters Deaf and president for four years for the NAOBI-National Alliance of Black Interpreters. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Atlanta Georgia. She enjoyed bowling, mentoring others, gadgets, puzzles, seek and find games, solving murder mysteries, and fine dining.
She is survived by her husband, James, of Atlanta, Georgia who knows her as the greatest love of his life; her mother, Barbara J. Morris, of Fort Madison, Iowa; her father, Sherman L. Morris, of Orlando, Florida; one daughter, Raissa M. (husband Bo) Ollice, of Apopka, Florida; one son, Rusty St. Clair, of Atlanta, Georgia, three brothers: Sherman L. White, of Denver, Colorado; Kevin Clayton, of Omaha, Nebraska; and Shawn L. Morris, of Fort Madison, Iowa; her maternal grandmother, Thelma Foster, of Fort Madison, Iowa; three grandchildren: Alexander Bo Munger, Jasmine Olivia Munger and Matthew Lee Ollice; nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, maternal grandfather and one aunt.
Friends may call from 6:00 - 7:30 pm Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, with Bishop Jerry Spier and Reverend Harold Davis Jr., presiding. Dedication of the grave will follow the service at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Renee Olson Memorial Scholarship Fund, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
