Sue Carol (Young) Weaver, Ph.D., 84 years, of Carlsbad, California, and former resident of Fort Madison, Iowa, passed away Tuesday October 9, 2012 in Carlsbad. She was born January 7, 1928 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Arvilla Young and Verna (Skyles) Young. Sue was an educator for 22 years, in careers ranging from elementary school teacher to college professor. In her later years she enjoyed traveling, writing fiction and playing bridge. She was a former member of the Union Presbyterian Church, in Fort Madison. Dr. Weaver is survived by: a sister Joanie Kelly of Ft. Worth, TX; a daughter Susan (Peter) Hughes, of Hilo, Hawaii; a son, Michael (Denise) Pruter, of Encinitas, California; a stepson John (Carver) Weaver of Hurdle Mills, NC, stepdaughters Gail (Mike) Norwood of Chapel Hill, SC, and Janine (Jeffrey) Kimble of Newport News, VA. 10 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Rosenberg Weaver, and sister Betty Vernon. Cremation wishes have been accorded. Memorial services were conducted Saturday, October 27 in Carlsbad, California. Graveside services and burial will be held at 1:00 pm Monday October 29th, 2012 at the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison. Reverend Mark Binder will officiate.
