Suzanne L. Richmond, 83 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 12:42 pm Tuesday July 9, 2013 at the Montrose Care Center, Montrose, Iowa. She was born August 15, 1929, a daughter of Gilbert and Inez (Bacon) Toussaint. On August 9, 1952, she married Frank R. Richmond Jr, M.D. at Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death March 24, 2003.
Sue attended the Columbia Nursing School, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She trained at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago, where she met her husband Frank. They married and moved back to Fort Madison where Frank went to work with his father. She worked with the Crossing Point program at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, and with the volunteer candy stripers. She was a substitute nurse for the Fort Madison Schools. Sue was active in the community and was a member of the Kings Daughters, P.E.O. Chapter JO, T.T.T. and the Red Hats. Sue and her family spent many summers at their cabin in Hayward, Wisconsin.
She is survived by one daughter, Abby (husband Mike) Fraise, of Wever, Iowa; one son-in-law, Gary (wife Carol) Glasgow, of West Point, Iowa; one brother, John (Carol) Toussaint, of Madison, Wisconsin; five grandchildren: Todd Fraise, Nick Fraise, Heather Fraise, Erin (Casey) Duval and Katie (Brent) Magennis; three step-grandchildren: Byron (Melissa) Helt, Brandy Helt and Bronson Helt; six great grandchildren: Trent Fraise, Matthew Fraise, Evelyn Duval, Ellory Duval, Ava Kafar, and Tate Kafar; and one step-great granddaughter, Nyla Helt; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her dog, Maggie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters: Amy Richmond and Carey Glasgow and one grandson, Peter Glasgow.
Family will greet friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am Friday July 12, 2013 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday following the visitation, with Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established for PAWS and Iowa Hospice, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa.
