Obituary

Thomas Wade Walljasper, 24 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died unexpectedly as a result of an automobile accident Wednesday, October 12, 2011. He was born November 23, 1986, a son of Thomas J. and Susan L. (Hogan) Walljasper. He was a 2005 graduate of Fort Madison High School. He was a four year starter on the Fort Madison Bloodhound wrestling team and he was co-captain his Senior year. He finished 7th at State in 2004 and 2005 and had 108 career victories. He also played football and ran cross country. He worked for Abolt Construction. He was of the Catholic Faith. He was an Ohio State Buckeye Fan. He enjoyed History, Science, camping, and canoeing. He wrote music and loved playing his guitar.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas J. and Susan L. Walljasper, of Fort Madison, Iowa; 3 sisters: Emeline Jean (husband Kevin) Britton, of Fort Madison, Iowa; Martha Sue Walljasper, of Fort Madison, Iowa; and Wendy Jo Walljasper, of Fort Madison, Iowa; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Carol Walljasper, of Fort Madison, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Ronald "Doc" and Joan Hogan, of Nauvoo, Illinois; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Friends may call after 1:00 pm Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:30 pm Friday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish, Fort Madison, Iowa, with Reverend Mark Spring, as Celebrant. Burial will be at Appanoose Cemetery, rural Niota, Illinois. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel or at the church on the day of the service.
