Twalla Warneke, 82 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Sunday, August 22, 2021 at SunnyBrook Assisted Living, Fort Madison. She was born October 18, 1938, a daughter of Freddie and Jennie (Eggers) Lane. On September 5, 1957, she married Richard Warneke at Colony, Missouri. He preceded her in death May 21, 2019.
Twalla was a homemaker, raising their children, five foster girls, and one foster boy. Later she worked at Motorola in Quincy, Illinois. Before retiring in 2002, she worked at Jacks, Fruehauf and Wabash National in Fort Madison. She was a member of the Joy Baptist Church. Twalla liked to do faux painting and crafts. She enjoyed working with her flowers and yard and watching the birds that came to her yard.
She is survived by her three sons: Robert (Ruby) Warneke, of Keokuk, Iowa; Russell (Valerie) Warneke, of Argyle, Iowa; Kenneth (Roberta) Warneke, of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother, Dorsey (Barbara) Lane, of Muscatine, Iowa; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, one great great grandson, nieces and nephews. Twalla and Richard had five foster girls and one foster boy in their home and enjoyed them very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant brother, one brother, two nephews, and one grandson.
Family will greet friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. Funeral services will follow and begin at 2:00 pm, August 25, 2021 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, with Assistant Pastor Paul Frederick officiating. Masks and social distancing are requested. Burial will be at the Charleston Cemetery, Charleston, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
