Vera Lee Wright, 91 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa, died at 5:55 pm Friday, October 17, 2014 at The Madison, Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born April 20, 1923 at Brookfield, Missouri, the youngest of 10 children of George Davis and Anna Elizabeth (Bivens) Ross. On March 9, 1941, she married Edward Clarence Wright at Brookfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death.

She has been a resident of Fort Madison since 1954. She was a homemaker, and was a member of the Fort Madison United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, and the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She loved to play the organ.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Hart, of Fort Madison, Iowa; two grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandsons (and one on the way), and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, four sisters, one son Larry Wright and one granddaughter, Terri Ross.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am Wednesday October 22 , 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. A funeral service will follow and be held at 11:00 am Wednesday October 22, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Bill Willis officiating. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
