Virginia "Gin" Ethel Calvert, 83 years, of Donnellson, Iowa passed away Thursday, June 5, 2025 at River Hills Village, Keokuk, Iowa.  She was born February 19, 1942 in Keokuk, Iowa, a daughter of William and Maxine "Jesse" (Kite) Hocker.  On July 25, 1959, she married Ronald R. Calvert in Keokuk, Iowa.
She was an Argyle High School graduate.  She worked many years at the former Scheller-Globe Corp., Keokuk, Iowa.  She also worked at Sheaffer Pen, Faeth Orchards and Central Lee High School.  Gin was of the Christian Faith.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, cross-word puzzles and planting her outdoor flower pots.  Gin and Ron enjoyed golfing together and were members of the Green Acres Golf Course.  They traveled and wintered in Florida, and enjoyed Nascar Racing.  Her family was most important to her, and many family birthdays, graduations and holidays were spent together at mom's home.

She is survived by her children: Rhonda (Brett) Longenecker, of Keokuk, Iowa and Rod (Kim) Calvert, of Donnellson, Iowa; brother, Wendell (Barb) Hocker, of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; three grandchildren: Naomi Wheatley, Brandy (Mike) Atwood, and Joshua (Amy) Pihl; six great grandchildren, Will, Ella, Lilly, Kobe, Connor and Chloe; sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald, daughter Roxane, brothers: Don, Dave, Billy, Tom, Fred, and an infant brother, sisters: Marilyn Penrod and Myrna Schreck and one great granddaughter, Maezie.

Her family will greet family and friends from 3:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday, June 8, 2025 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa.  A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, June 9, 2025 at Barr Memorial Chapel, with Chaplain Amanda Sorenson officiating.  Burial will be at the Argyle Memorial Gardens, Argyle, Iowa.  A memorial has been established, and contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa.
