Virginia Ruth Stockwell, 77 , of Fort Madison, IA died Sunday April 24, 2016 from kidney failure in the arms of her loving husband. She was born Sept 18, 1938 in Browerville, MN to Ernest Hans Sr. and Jane Marie(Olson)Junker. On June 2, 1957 she married Donald R Stockwell in Staples Mn. They moved to Iowa in 1972. She held several jobs over the years working at Echo Plastics, Armour Co, Sheaffer Pen and retired from the dietary dept at FMCH.
She was an avid reader and had a collection of over 500 books. She loved putting puzzles together with her great grandchildren, taking them to the library and the salvation army, sitting on her deck listening to and watching the birds, playing bingo, making quilts for her family and sewing. Each year she would knit many mittens and scarves for the grands to keep them warm in the winter. Every spring she enjoyed planting flower baskets to surround her deck.
She was a very strong woman and instilled the love of God and family in our lives. If we had a problem she would always say God will take care of it and help you through it. When the road got rough, she always reminded us that things happen for a reason and not to question why.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald Stockwell, two daughters: RaeLynn (Ed) Fowler and Rebekah Stockwell, all of Fort Madison, One Sister, Arlene Lewis of Minnesota, Six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Ernest Junker Jr, one daughter RoxAnne Spoores, two infant children, and one granddaughter Tawna.
