Vivian Virginia Frels, 94 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 9:54 am Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at her residence at the Kensington, Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born January 15, 1918 at Mt. Hamill, Iowa, a daughter of Roy C. and Mary Rachel (Paschal) Bell. On December 21, 1946, she married Wesley Frederick Frels, at the Union Presbyterian Church, Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death March 23, 1995.
She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in the area. She collected cook books, enjoyed cake decorating and crocheting. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeye fan. She was an active member of the Union Presbyterian Church, Fort Madison.
Survivors include one son, James W. Frels, of Greenwood, Indiana; two daughters, Janet Frels, of Aurora, Colorado and Denise (husband Dennis) Orona, of Elk Run Heights, Iowa; one brother, Richard (wife Kay) Bell, of Burlington, Iowa; two sisters: Lorene Sloan, of San Antonio, Texas; Neva Forrest, of Perry, Iowa; two grandsons, Daniel and David Orona; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, William Bell.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Monday August 27, 2012 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, with Reverend Mark Binder, officiating. Burial will be at the Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison. The family will greet friends at the Union Presbyterian Church following the burial. A memorial has been established for the Union Presbyterian Church, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
