Obituary

William D. Green, 64 years, of Donnellson, Iowa, and formerly of Farmington Hills, Michigan, died unexpectedly Friday, September 9, 2011, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. He was born September 18, 1946, at Detroit, Michigan, a son of William E. and Isabella (Donaldson) Green. On March 24, 1967, he married Lisa Sundberg at Orchard Lake, Michigan. She survives.

Bill moved from Farmington Hills, Michigan, to the Donnellson, Iowa, area in January 2011, to be near his daughter and her family. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Business from the Detroit College of Business and a Masters Degree in Economics from the University of Detroit Mercy. He was an Economics professor at the University of Detroit Mercy, Madonna University and Davenport University. He was an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan. He was lovingly referred to as "Bah-pa" by his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Green, of Donnellson, Iowa; one daughter Sarah (husband Christopher) Youngman, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one brother, Thomas R. (wife Doris) Green, of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren, Jack and Stella. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at the Embury United Methodist Church, rural Donnellson, Iowa, with Reverend Thomas Petersen, officiating. Burial will be at the Embury Cemetery, rural Donnellson, Iowa. A memorial has been established. Contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel or at the church on the day of the service.
